Madrid has its first 100 % plant-based Italian restaurant in Malasaña! I can assure you that you will definitely fall in love with this culinary gem. Behind this restaurant is the same crew as recently closed Botanique, and luckily in addition to the Italian delicacies, they’ve kept some dishes on the menu from Botanique’s era, like a mouthwatering shiitake and mango ceviche.
Pizzi & Dixie is the first of its kind in Spain to serve Italian food cruelty-free. The cooking is exquisite and fresh, and there are healthy options in the menu in case you don’t feel like pizza or pasta. They got points on the nice modern decor in two floors with some charming details like a chill out sand area and vertical moss gardens.
When in Pizzi & Dixie, remember to visit the vegan store Veggie Room across the street, where you get the best service in the city!
Pizzi & Dixie has a variety of pizza bases to choose from; classic, whole-wheat, gluten-free and activated carbon that makes the base beautifully purple blackish. Also, there are other gluten-free options, like gnocchi with pesto, so delicious that you want to lick the plate after finishing.
After eating in Pizzi & Dixie only two times, I’m sure that it will make it to the top spots of my favorite vegan restaurants in Madrid!
